Pittsboro Montessori Preschool was founded in 1996 as a 501(c)3 corporation with the mission to provide quality education at an affordable price for the Pittsboro community’s preschool-aged children. We are currently enrolling children ages 3 through 6 years of age in our morning program. Sign up now to secure your spot!
Pittsboro Montessori Preschool follows the philosophy of education developed by Maria Montessori (1870-1952). Dr. Montessori developed a method of teaching children geared towards the individual needs of the child. In the Montessori classroom, the children are offered the liberty and freedom to make intelligent choices. The materials, which are eye catching, are phased into the classroom and kept simple. Lessons are presented in a logical sequence and at appropriate times. The children are free to talk, to discuss their work and are encouraged to listen to one another.
Volunteering for the Pittsboro Montessori Preschool is an important part of your family’s experience with the school. Offering your skills and talents is a great way to become part of our community and teach your child about volunteering. We ask each family to volunteer their skills and talents for the school at least 5 hours per semester.
